Community Action for A Renewed Environment, or Gary CARE, is a community-based organization working to identify, prioritize, and create an action plan to address environmental health issues that affect our health, quality of life and economic development.
One of their goals is to assess Gary's cumulative environmental and toxic risks in terms of potential and known public health impacts. Another is to develop a community-based action plan for improving the environment and public health in Gary. They would like to mobilize the community to accomplish these goals.
CARE has developed practical steps or tasks that will be taken to implement their goals. These tasks will be updated each quarter to reflect the progress and new needs of the Partnership's work.
